Genuine Happiness Comes from Within
Genuine happiness isn’t about driving the hottest Formula 1 car, nor getting the employee of the year award, earning the highest 13th-month pay, or beating the sales quota. Sometimes, the most sought-after prizes in life don’t always go to the fastest, the strongest, the bravest, or not even the best. So, how do you become genuinely happy? Everyone has his own definition of ‘happiness. Happiness for a writer may mean launching as many bestselling books as possible. Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award. Happiness for a beggar may mean a lot of money. Happiness for a businessman may mean success. So, really now, how do we become genuinely happy? Simple. You don’t have to have the best things in this world. It is about doing and making the best out of every single thing. When you find yourself smiling at your own mistake and telling yourself “Oh, I’ll do better next time”, you carry with you a flame of strong willpower to persevere that may spread out like a brush fire. You possess a willingness to stand up again and try – that will make you a genuinely happy person.
Why Are Our Lives Out of Balance?
It does not happen overnight that our lives get out of balance. At first, maybe you decide to spend a little extra time at your job or career, figuring that if you put in the extra time now it will pay off later. After a few years of doing this, you may find yourself logging crazy hours in a never-ending pursuit of some business-related goal. You will learn steps proven to help you avoid procrastination, and the smart way to set boundaries in your life so you maximize both your career and personal lives.
How to make your potential visible
Showing your boss that you have potential is essential whether you want to climb up the ladder to senior management or be picked for interesting projects. Naturally, being competent at your current job is a starting point, but it takes more than that to advance. Tips to show your potential to your leadership at the begin of your career as well as when you are already well established.
Knowing (and Listing) Your Priorities
What do you truly desire above all else? What are the things in your life which you absolutely must spend time doing? What people do you always want to be around? The answers to those questions and others will reveal what you should be prioritizing as important in your life. Get 2 separate sheets of paper. On the top of one write "Work Priorities", and your second sheet should be labeled "Personal Priorities". Now take a look at your lists. Regarding each item in turn, place it above or below the other items on your list, with your most important priorities at the top. Over time these priorities may change, so you want to practice this exercise once a year.
